Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C. ClarkeMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
A much revered classic of science fiction with good reason. A unique story where humanity's first contact with an alien intelligence is not with the aliens themselves but with their long dormant technology whose purpose causes much debate among the humans who discover it. And it's precisely this sense of wonder at knowing that we are not alone in the universe that permeates the novel.
The book follows a crew that intercepts an object that enters interplanetary space. They must find out everything they can about "Rama" (as they have dubbed it) before it hurls into the sun.
A novel full of the wonder of first contact that is a quick read but very worthwhile.
